Jay Kirkman

Jay’s career in advertising started in 1981 at Ross Roy in its account training program. He was promoted to copywriter after six months, working on Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge. From there he did the “car writer in Detroit” thing, learning his craft on Lincoln-Mercury at Y&R/Cato Johnson, Jeep at Saatchi & Saatchi Compton, and Lincoln-Mercury, Merkur and Ford at Y&R/Wunderman.
He moved to Greenville, SC, in 1985 for packaged goods experience, joining Henderson Advertising as a senior copywriter. He worked on Chris-Craft, 21 Brands, First Atlanta and Texize brands such as Fantastik and Spray’n’Wash.
He left Henderson in 1986 and opened his own agency to focus on B2B. Over the course of the next sixteen years, he served as creative director and writer on accounts in a range of industries—aviation services, healthcare, IT, professional services, value added components and value added distribution. He opened radii with Mindy in 2002.
Today, Jay works on the front end of assignments, developing strategies and creative concepts, and writing copy. He thinks work is what you do—not where you go—and as a consequence, seldom stops thinking about work.
